Last week the lock down restrictions for those shielding (over 70’s and those with health issues) started to be relaxed allowing people to meet one other person outside their household for walks (socially distanced). I have been able to review my client list to see who would fall into this category and have started to contact people who might like to meet up for a local walk and some face to face company. It has been nice to see people in person again rather than just speaking to them on the phone.
I am sure in due course more guidelines will be issued to enable people to move around more freely, but until then lets keep safe and enjoy some limited freedom.

I originally trained as a SEN(M), and worked in that sector caring for the elderly for around 9 years. After this I changed pathways and moved to administration work, being employed in both the NHS and private sectors at various stages of my career. Between 2002 to June 2017 I worked in a Fertility Clinic as Clinic Director, and then Quality lead providing a patient centered service. This was a key element of my job, and I enjoyed listening to patients and improving standards of service through patient feedback and audit.
It was through doing voluntary work though that I realized I wanted to work alongside people more directly again and offer them support in the community by forming a companionship service. I set this up in 2017 and have now established a befriending and support service for people at home that need help to remain independent.
