Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care (SCCCC) have set up a pen pal scheme during the Coronavirus lock down to support people that are isolated.
I think its a great idea to start writing letters again to those we love and miss, or to someone we don’t know to brighten their day. After all you can read a letter over and over, whereas a phone call finishes and that’s an end to it. I have done my first letter.
Letters can be posted to:
Pen Pal Scheme – SCCCC Unit 19, President Buildings, Saville Street East, Sheffield S4 7UQ.
Why not give it a go?

I originally trained as a SEN(M), and worked in that sector caring for the elderly for around 9 years. After this I changed pathways and moved to administration work, being employed in both the NHS and private sectors at various stages of my career. Between 2002 to June 2017 I worked in a Fertility Clinic as Clinic Director, and then Quality lead providing a patient centered service. This was a key element of my job, and I enjoyed listening to patients and improving standards of service through patient feedback and audit.
It was through doing voluntary work though that I realized I wanted to work alongside people more directly again and offer them support in the community by forming a companionship service. I set this up in 2017 and have now established a befriending and support service for people at home that need help to remain independent.
